Afrolicious Hair Affair Expo Highlights
This past Sunday I had the pleasure of attending the Afrolicious Hair Affair Expo hosted by Rhonda Ray of AfroCitytv.com. I hadn’t been to a meetup in quite some time so this was a treat for me.
Here are the goodies I came home with, all free of charge. I won the shave cream in a raffle and Miss Jessie’s was handing out samples. Everything else was in my swag bag, which the first 80 people to arrive received.
The room was packed. There were a good variety of vendors present, some well-known brands and many rising companies.
This is Raykel, the event host’s cousin, whom I happened to end up next to in line while waiting for the doors to open.
These were the speakers for the “Celebrity Hair, Beauty & Styling” panel, which was my favorite of the day. From (l-r):
- panel host Chenese Lewis
- celebrity stylist Felicia Leatherwood
- Dr. Kari Williams, owner of Mahogany Hair Revolution
- Tanika Ray, celebrity television host
- Melissa Hibbert, founder of SHEEQ Cosmetics
I bumrushed Ms. Leatherwood after she left the stage. Since I have already interviewed her, there was no way I could leave without a pic. She was totally cool about it.
Event host Rhonda Ray. Werk.
Here are KashTV an her boyfriend. She also has an accessory business, Wild Bliss Shop.
There was a natural hair contest
and a fashion show by Petro Montegos.
The King Of Pop even stopped by.
The last panel was “How to Get Paid Blogging About Your Passion.” If you’re a YouTube fan, here are a few faces you may recognize, from (l-r, seated):
- Angel, who blogs at K is for Kinky
- Tiffany of Our Lady Lourdes
- KaSheera from KashTV
- Long Hair Don’t Care 2011
My favorite part of the day, of course, was networking with beautiful women and drooling over their fabulous hair. Here’s a small sample of hair heaven:
Lucky for us, many of them have agreed to an interview so we can get up close and personal those gorgeous strands. Woot!
I had a great time and look forward to the next one.
Have you ever been to a hair expo/show? What was your favorite part?
