What’s Your Favorite Essential Oil?

essential oils

I’m in an essential oil kind of mood, y’all.

Every blue moon I’ll have the urge for some yummy smelling hair, and the urge has hit me hard this past week.

Citrus smells are my weakness. Orange was my favorite. The last time I tried orange essential oil it smelled fabulous in my hair but I was disappointed by how quickly the scent faded.

I took a trip to Vitamine Shoppe on Monday to purchase a new oil to try. I didn’t have anything in mind. I was just going to let my nose lead the way.

I ended up with tangerine oil. (Well, I did say citruses were my weakness.)

Oh my goodness, fam, this stuff smells fantastic: exhilirating, sweet, and tangy all at once. A bit like me 😀

I’ll be experimenting with oils more in the future, and am hoping I can make the smell more pronounced this time, so I’m turning to you for help.

What are your favorite essential oils for delicious-smelling hair? What recipes and measurements do you use?

  1. This is a hard question. I Loooooooooooooove oils – different ones for different reasons. Jojoba is the lightest so I love it for keeping my hair tangle free. I love Sweet Almond too.

Great choices, Michelle. I’m a jojoba fan, too. These are great for moisture. Which ones do you use for a yummy smell?

I’ve never tried essential oils. How much do you use? It sounds like fun!

    • Essential oils are potent and undiluted. Certain ones can even burn if applied directly to your skin.

That being said, a little goes a long way, and you must always mix it with a carrier oil (castor, jojoba, etc.).

It depends on the person and preference but you normally will only use a few drops.

  3. Gosh! I like a lot of them.. my favorite so far is Lavender. I just love the soothing smell. I use them with jojoba oil, castor oil, EVOO, and peppermint.
