The Ponytail Pitfall
Ponytail Pitfall (pn-tl ptfôl)
n. Common phenomenon that causes one to resort to the trusty ponytail on an everyday basis. Often a result of laziness or lack of hair care knowledge.
Today I realized that I’ve become a victim of the Ponytail Pitfall.
It began innocently enough.
After my weekly wash, I put my hair in a ponytail to dry like I always do. (I can’t stand wet hair on my neck/back or water dripping everywhere.) I fell asleep with the ponytail in and awoke the next morning running late for work.
What began as a quick and easy styled morphed into my crutch for a week. Some days I didn’t even undo the ponytail; just got up and ran a quick brush over it. *don’t stone me*
I’m surprised I fell so easily into the trap knowing the dangers of constant ponytails. Wearing them too tight and too often can cause headaches and permanent hair loss. I already have a weak hairline so this is doubly dangerous for me.
So what’s a girl to do when it’s hot and humid outside? Because really, who wants hair plastered to their neck when it’s hot and humid?
One alternative: A quick and easy updo.
