Are You A Lazy Natural?

Hi. My name is Kay and I’m a lazy natural.

It occurred to me today as I was looking through some old hair pics. Although I’ve never been one to “do” much to my hair, when I was on that (chemical) stuff I kept a style.

Whether it was conrowed, waved or shellacked, it was done.

Since I’ve returned to natural I’ve noticed that I no longer take the time to style. I’ve fallen into the “my natural hair is fine just the way God made it” train of thought.

I wonder why this change has taken place. Why did it matter more how my hair looked when I was relaxed? Was it that I simply wasn’t comfortable with letting my hair just be? Or am I using my natural hair as a cop-out for not having to really “do” anything to it?

Do you style your natural hair as much as you did your relaxed? Have you become lazier with doing your hair? And if so, why?

Hi, my name is Thandi and I’m a lazy napp! like you, I cared more when my hair was relaxed than I do now. Now, freestyle is my main style.Sometimes I’ll do a braid out after washing it, but those times are becoming rare. The only reason I did my last style-basket weave-was because my hair gets into my eyes and I wanted to see the sites properly-we were site-seeing.

Girl, I’m right there with you. Freestyle is an official style for me.

I mainly wear my headbancds and ponytails because, like you, my hair in the front tends to hang and swing in my eyes.

  2. I have to say that I am a lazy natural too. In one way, I think it is because I find natural hair more attractive on me. I was always fooling with my relaxed her to get it in a way that worked for me. That took much more effort. Now, I can just slap it in a puff, and I still like it like that. Still, I’m forcing myself to venture beyond the puff a little more. It’s just so easy.

So it sounds like for you it’s more of an acceptance thing; you feel more comfortable with your hair now so you feel less need to “do” it.

I think a lot of us fall into that category, me included.

It is actually the opposite for me. I love washing, conditoning, detangling and styling my hair every week. I look forward to this session every week.

      Welcome, Tinuke 🙂

Yes, I used to feel this way when I was loose. I wonder if being a dread has something to do with it now?

I love styling my hair as well not detangling so much. I get to try so many diff styles, its great. A little time consuming how.

I wrote this post over a year ago, and I still haven’t changed lol Actually, now that my hair’s longer, I’ve grown accustomed to just tossing it in a ponytail, the ultimate lazy woman’s style lol

      Thanks for dropping by.
