How did you get into modelling?
I started modeling when I was 14 years old. I was discovered by a model who got me a meeting with an agency. When I was 17 years old, I was rediscovered by my now manager, Jim Jordan. I am signed with Ford Models in LA, IMG Models in NY, Storm Models in London, and Wilhelmina Models in Miami.
Have you always embraced your hair texture or was it something you had to grow into?
When i was younger, I didn’t like my hair at all. I didn’t know what to do with my hair so i always put it in a bun or a ponytail. Now that I am older I love my hair! I almost always have it down. I think I like it more now because it is long and I know what products work best with my hair.
What is your hair routine? Do you use any particular products?
I normally shower in the morning and brush my hair. Then I use John Frieda Frizz-Ease® Straight Fixation® Smoothing Crème. It works for my hair by making it soft and taming frizz. Then I just let my hair air dry. This is the stuff I use in my hair when I’m at home. When I’m at photo shoots they normally use a wand curling iron to curl my hair and then they put volumizer in it.
I’m sure being a model takes a toll on your hair. Do you do anything special to combat damage?
I don’t really do much to my hair as far as treatments. I just don’t straighten or curl it unless it’s for modeling. I also let it air dry instead of blow drying it. I like my hair both curled and straightened but I just leave it natural when I’m not working.
Any advice for aspiring models?
Don’t give up on your dreams and don’t let others bring you down. If you are trying to become a model, you should try going to agency open calls or submitting pictures to agencies.
